BEHAVIOUR

‘Good behaviour is a necessary condition for effective learning to take place.’ (Elton Report)

At the schools of St Alphege we insist that ‘in all key stages pupils are expected to display high standards of behaviour and safety across all aspects of school life.’ (School Improvement Plan).

We are a caring, Christian community whose values are built on mutual trust and respect for all.  Everyone believes in an environment which encourages children and builds on self-esteem, so that they become more confident, mature, independent learners and members of society.  Our governing body accepts this principle and seeks to create an environment in school which encourages and reinforces good behaviour.  Furthermore it is acknowledged that society expects good behaviour as an important outcome of the educational process.

Our behaviour policies are, therefore, designed to support a structure for managing behaviour within each school; behaviour that is appropriate and understood by all members of our community.

Special Educational Needs

The Schools of St Alphege are inclusive schools and we are proud of the diversity within our school community. Within the collaborative there is expertise and training of staff in relation to SEND pupils.

Miss Stanion, our SENDCo, has obtained the accredited ‘National Award for SEND Co-ordination.

You can contact her via the school offices on 0121 705 0443 (Infants) or 0121 704 2714 (Juniors), alternatively you can email  officeinf@stalphege.solihull.sch.uk

We value our partnership with parents. Termly reviews for SEND Support Children and statemented/EHCP pupils occur with the SENDCo. Those at “Class Support” meet with the class teacher to discuss targets.  Parents are encouraged to attend termly informal coffee mornings hosted at the Infant School.

Where appropriate staff of both schools within the Federation signpost parents to the Special Educational Needs and Disability Information Advice and Support Service (SENDIAS).
